Biotech Grand Prix 2025: Grand Prize Won by Pyrozyme - New Value Provided by the World's Best Thermostable Protease

The Biotech Grand Prix 2025 was held on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at the Center of Garage to select the winning teams for the Grand Prize and the Corporate Award.
Since 2020, the Tech Planter has been developed under the concept of "Deep Issue & Deep Tech Explorer," in which unsolved issues (Deep Issue) are solved with the collective power of science and technology (Deep Tech). This year, 335 teams from Japan and abroad applied. Twelve teams selected from among them took the stage as finalists and passionately presented their ideas for solving social issues using technology and the possibilities for developing fundamental technologies.
Pyrozyme has developed a mass production technology for proteases (proteolytic enzymes) that can work at temperatures as high as 100°C. Pyrozyme has overturned the conventional wisdom that enzymes are weak against heat and has realized a new type of manufacturing through "enzyme reactions at 100°C." The Grand Prize was awarded to this project because of its potential backed by solid technical capabilities, the strong passion of the research team that moved the judges, and the conviction of all the judges that "a great development will be created by combining this technology with their own industrial field.
Pyrozyme, along with the Tech Planter Grand Prize winning teams in six other areas,The Japan Society for Hyperdifferentiation 2026 Tokyo-Kanto Conference(March 6 and 7, 2026) to participate in a special pitch session. In addition, the two teams that perform well in this session will advance to the TECH PLANTER Asia Final 2026. Through this platform, REVANES will expand the ecosystem in Japan and Southeast Asia where venture companies, large corporations, mid-sized companies, and researchers will work together to solve deep issues.
