- Shiga Tech Planter identifies business seeds in the fields of "manufacturing" and "water and environment" from science and engineering universities based in Shiga Prefecture and companies aiming to start a second business. We will brush up your business plan through mentoring and consultation opportunities with experts. The 10th Shiga Tech Plan Grand Prix will be held with the aim of discovering and nurturing teams that will change the world from Shiga Prefecture through science, technology, and passion.

Kick-off event
RIVERNESS, partner companies, teams (applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, and will be closed when capacity is reached), and teams that have entered in the past will gather to exchange information and ideas. Participants will be able to consult with each other and develop business partnerships. Participation or not on the day of the event will not be considered.

Entry Deadline
We will review the submitted documents based on the information provided. By the due date, we will ask you to submit information about your team, skills, passions, and future plans via web form and video. All applicants will be notified of the screening results and will receive feedback on their applications. Individual interviews (online or offline) will also be conducted for those who wish to participate in the presentation review process.

Finalists announced
Interviews will be held for applicants who pass the document screening to brush up their presentation for the Grand Prix. In addition, interviews can be set up with partner companies for the purpose of business consultation and development of business alliances.

The 10th Shiga Tech Plan Grand Prix
The contestants will give a 7-minute presentation and participate in a 7-minute Q&A session with a panel of judges from Liverness, Inc. and partner companies. The final round will be held in a semi-closed session and will be attended by contestants and partner companies as well as local businesses and universities. After the judging, an awards ceremony will be held.

- He holds a B.S. in Agriculture from the University of Tokyo, an M.S. from the same university, and a Ph. Specializing in genetic engineering, microalgae science, and information biology, he has worked as a JST researcher and PD at Harvard University, and is currently a professor in the Department of Bioscience at Nagahama Institute of Bio-Science and Technology. While promoting basic research, he won prizes in competitions such as Shiga Tech Planter and Marine Tech GP, which increased his confidence that his research would contribute to society.He founded Novelgen in 2019 and currently promotes decarbonization and water purification projects that harness the power of microalgae. He is particularly focused on improving the marine environment.
